Drawing Robot, ARTO-1

When people draw on paper or tablet PCs, they hold a brush or pen and freely adjust the force, speed, and angle to draw pictures. This seemingly simple task is quite difficult for robots. Most robots are optimized for simple, repetitive tasks in factories. If we make them draw as humans do, it’s likely for the brush to snap, the paper to rip, or the tablet PC to break.

ARTO-1 learns human touch and intelligence. After learning the results of people’s brush strokes depending on the force, speed, and angle of movement, they learn to draw by themselves. All thanks to bilateral haptic technology for fine-grained force control, the cloud brain that combines and commands thousands of actions, and the sophisticated manipulation capacities of the hardware.

ARTO-1 is continuing to learn at this very moment, resulting in better drawing abilities today compared to the day before, just like children learning to draw.
