NAVER LABS and NAVER Cloud are jointly developing the Robotics Edge Computing Platform with Samsung’s System LSI.
The three companies, who privately signed an MOU related to the project in November of last year, have since been jointly developing the Robotics Edge Computing Platform, which integrates system-on-chips (SoC) for robots and semiconductor solutions, such as image sensors, with the robot OS and software that they will run on. The REC platform can be installed on and used in various robots, such as those for indoor and outdoor delivery. By providing robot-optimized hardware and software in a single platform, the platform significantly increases robot performance and stability.
ARC mind, the world's first web platform-based robot OS developed by NAVER, is installed on the REC platform, making it possible to easily develop new services as well as integrate them with existing NAVER services such as payment and reservations.
This platform was unveiled for the first time as part of the main stage keynote speech at the international technology exhibition "LEAP 2024," held in Saudi Arabia. Starting with robots at NAVER's second headquarters, 1784, continuous technological verification is planned in a various environments and settings. In the long term, the three companies will aim to cooperate in the exploration of domestic and international robot business opportunities through mutual technology exchange and development support, ultimately expanding the collaboration toward the creation of a next-generation robot ecosystem.
