Water has long been the driving force behind civilizations, and humanity has consistently focused its national capabilities on water management. Today, modern digital twin technology is creating a new turning point in water management. NAVER LABS, NAVER Cloud, and Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water) are kicking off a cooperation on digital water management solutions.
NAVER LABS will utilize “ALIKE,” an AI-based digital twin development solution, to build a 3D model identical to actual cities. This digital twin-based virtual simulation will support the analysis of various problems and enable disaster prediction. NAVER Cloud will ensure that the entire process of digital twin services, from infrastructure consulting to building and managing, is stably operated on the NAVER Cloud platform. K-Water will share water management experience accumulated over the past 50 years and its expertise in developing the digital twin water management platform, which garnered a lot of attention at the ‘CES 2023.’
This collaboration is also expected to strengthen each company’s overseas expansion. In fact, NAVER LABS and NAVER Cloud have signed a partnership with Saudi Arabia on national-level digital transformation, where water management using digital twin was also a major discussion topic. K-Water, too, is actively supporting overseas expansion based on technologies of domestic private companies.
Jongyoon Peck, the Leader of NAVER LABS’ Autonomous Driving Group, said, “Cooperation proposals and collaborative projects are consistently ongoing with various global partners on analyzing disasters such as floods through digital twin.” He added, “In particular, the combination of TEAM NAVER’s digital twin solution and cloud infrastructure is highly suitable for water management solution demands at a city or national level.”
