The next application of digital twin technology is the “VR House Tour” service. It is a 3D digital twin that replicates actual real estate properties, providing an immersive experience. Users can freely explore the interiors of houses, including rooms, living rooms, and bathrooms, and even measure the length or width of spaces directly within the 3D model, among other versatile uses.
Simply Creating a 3D Model of the House Interior
The 3D interior models displayed in the VR House Tour Service are created using NAVER LABS’ “ALIKE” solution. ALIKE is a digital twin creation solution designed for everything from buildings to entire cities. NAVER LABS has developed digital twins for large-scale complex spaces such as museums, airports, shopping malls, and skyscrapers. We have used various mapping robots and devices to efficiently scan spaces according to their characteristics.
For the VR House Tour service, we used a 360-degree camera as a mapping device to easily and quickly scan massive spaces.
Key characteristics of the VR House Tour service
Real-time 3D Mapping: the spatial data obtained from the 360-degree camera is directly linked to the server through the mapping app, allowing real-time monitoring and modification of the mapping process.
AI Spatial Analysis: the AI analyzes spatial images to accurately extract location and 3D depth information. This enables precise measurements as if the user were in the actual space, and this capability can be extended to various services such as furniture placement simulations in the future.
Cloud Processing: the entire data construction process – from uploading mapping data to generating 3D models and blueprints, and reflecting in services – is optimized and conducted through the cloud.
Precise digital twins, ranging from indoor spaces to outdoor complexes, can be extended from immersive services for residential spaces to various fields, such as facility management for commercial spaces and construction site monitoring.
The VR House Tour service, which allows users to view the interior of houses vividly, is currently being partially pilot-tested, and the service is planned to be gradually expanded throughout the year after stabilization.
